China Pharmaceutical University

China Pharmaceutical University (CPU), located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is a prestigious national university directly under the Ministry of Education. It is a Double First-Class university, a member of the 211 Project and the 985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform.

Co-established by the Ministry of Education and the Jiangsu Provincial Government, CPU leads the Global Pharmaceutical Development Alliance, reflecting its global influence in pharmaceutical education. The university has two campuses: Xuanwumen and Jiangning, covering over 2100 mu (about 140 hectares) with a building area of 702,000 square meters and a library holding over 1.189 million books.

CPU's flagship programs are Pharmacy and Chinese Materia Medica. In the fourth national discipline evaluation, Pharmacy was rated A+, ranking first in China. Chinese Materia Medica also ranks among the top. The university offers two postdoctoral research stations (Pharmacy and Chinese Materia Medica), four first-level doctoral degree programs, two professional doctoral programs, and eight first-level master's programs.

In the 2023 Shanghai Ranking, Pharmacy has been ranked first for consecutive years. As a member of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan, CPU emphasizes industry-academia collaboration, partnering with leading pharmaceutical companies like Hengrui Medicine and Pfizer.

CPU boasts a strong faculty of 1,919, including over 50 national-level high-end talents such as Chinese Academy of Engineering academicians and National Outstanding Youth Science Fund recipients. The university adopts a 'general education + specialized education + personalized development' model, offering 31 undergraduate programs covering Pharmacy, Chinese Materia Medica, Biopharmaceutics, Clinical Pharmacy, and more.

The curriculum integrates theory with practice, supported by national experimental teaching demonstration centers and the National College Student Innovation Experimental Program. Research is conducted at over 20 national and provincial key laboratories, including the State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines and the Key Laboratory of Drug Chemistry (Ministry of Education).

CPU has two campuses: Xuanwumen in downtown Nanjing near Xuanwu Lake, offering a scenic and convenient environment for graduate studies and research; and Jiangning in the university town, featuring modern facilities including smart classrooms, advanced labs, a large library, sports venues, and student dormitories with air conditioning, hot water, and private bathrooms.

The campus is green and serene, with lakes and trees, fostering a great learning atmosphere. Multiple dining halls serve a variety of Chinese and Western cuisines to accommodate international students. The International Student Service Center provides comprehensive support for visa, accommodation, and cultural adaptation.
