Overview
Shanxi University (SXU) is located in Taiyuan and Datong, Shanxi Province, with four campuses: Wucheng, Dongshan, Dadongguan, and Datong, covering about 3,507 mu (234 hectares). As a national 'Double First-Class' university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and Shanxi Provincial Government, SXU is a pioneer of modern higher education in China.
Its predecessor, Shanxi University Hall, was founded in 1902, making it one of the three earliest national universities alongside Imperial University of Peking and Peiyang University. The university upholds the tradition of 'integrating Chinese and Western knowledge, pursuing truth and perfection' and has evolved into a comprehensive university covering arts, sciences, engineering, law, economics, management, philosophy, history, education, medicine, and arts.
