Guangzhou University

Guangzhou University (GU) is a full-time public university located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. It is sponsored by the Guangzhou Municipal Government and supervised by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, operating under a joint provincial-municipal governance model with primary municipal responsibility.

As a member of the national '111 Plan' and a key university in the high-level university development initiatives of both Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City, GU ranked 98th in the 2024 Soft Science China University Rankings.

Guangzhou University offers a comprehensive range of disciplines covering philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, sciences, engineering, management, arts, and interdisciplinary studies. It comprises 26 professional colleges and 78 undergraduate programs.

The university boasts 14 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 8 postdoctoral research stations, 34 academic master's degree programs, and 30 professional master's degree programs, forming a complete bachelor's-master's-doctoral education system.

Guangzhou University has a strong faculty of 3,353 staff members, including national-level experts and scholars returning from overseas. The university emphasizes both teaching and research, with a curriculum that integrates theory and practice, offering numerous bilingual and international courses.

Students are encouraged to participate in research projects. GU hosts several provincial and ministerial key laboratories and engineering research centers, such as the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Durability of Civil Engineering, with substantial research funding.

Guangzhou University's three campuses each have unique features. The main University Town campus is located in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, offering a modern environment with smart classrooms, a library, sports facilities, and student dormitories.

The Guihuagang campus in Yuexiu District enjoys convenient transportation and mature living amenities. The Huangpu campus, near the high-tech industrial zone, facilitates industry-academia collaboration.
