Overview
Qingdao University (QU) is a comprehensive public university located in Qingdao, Shandong Province, jointly funded by the provincial and municipal governments. Its roots trace back to the Qingdao Special Higher School founded in 1909, and the current institution was formed in 1993 through the merger of four predecessor schools: the original Qingdao University, Shandong Textile Engineering College, Qingdao Medical College, and Qingdao Normal College.
QU is designated as a key university under Shandong Province's 'Aiming for First-Class' initiative and hosts the Ministry of Education's demonstration base for international students. The university has three campuses—Fushan, Jinjialing, and Songshan—covering 166 hectares with 1.119 million square meters of buildings.
