Southwest Petroleum University

Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU) is a comprehensive university located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. It is a public university jointly established by the Sichuan Provincial Government, the Ministry of Education, and three major national oil companies (CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC).

As a 'Double First-Class' university, SWPU is selected for the national '111 Project' and other key programs, with outstanding strengths in clean energy and new materials. The university serves as a vital base for talent cultivation and scientific research in the national energy industry.

SWPU's flagship programs include Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Geological Resources and Geological Engineering. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering discipline is among the top in China and is a 'Double First-Class' discipline.

The university offers 7 first-level doctoral degree programs, 24 first-level master's degree programs, and 5 postdoctoral research stations. It conducts numerous national-level research projects in clean energy, new materials, and oil and gas exploration.

SWPU boasts a highly qualified faculty of 2,813 staff, with over 50% being professors or associate professors, including academicians and national talent program recipients. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, offering English-taught international courses and joint training programs with overseas universities.
