Anhui Medical University

Anhui Medical University (AHMU), located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, is a provincial key university jointly established by the Anhui Provincial Government, the Ministry of Education, and the National Health Commission.

It is one of the earliest higher education institutions in Anhui and the first medical university in the province. Founded in 1926 as a private Southeast Medical University in Shanghai, it relocated to Anhui in 1949, becoming the province's first medical school.

AHMU's flagship programs include clinical medicine, microbiology, pharmacology & toxicology, neuroscience & behavior, and eight other disciplines that have entered the ESI global top 1%, reflecting strong research capabilities and academic influence.

As a pilot university for the Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program and a high-level public health school under the Ministry of Education, AHMU enjoys a prestigious reputation in medical education. Being the first medical university in Anhui, it has 5 directly affiliated hospitals and 6 co-constructed affiliated hospitals, providing abundant clinical practice resources.

AHMU comprises 20 directly affiliated teaching units and 45 undergraduate programs covering medicine, science, engineering, management, and more. The faculty is robust, with 16,700 staff members (including affiliated hospitals) and 1,922 on the main campus, including many national and provincial academic leaders.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, leveraging the Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program to enhance clinical skills and research capabilities. Research platforms include multiple provincial and ministerial key laboratories and research centers, such as the Anhui Academy of Medical Sciences and clinical research centers, offering advanced equipment and research environments.

AHMU has four campuses: Meishan Road campus in the city center with convenient transportation; Feicui Road campus with a beautiful environment and modern facilities; the newly built East Campus with a well-planned layout; and the New Medical Center under construction, designed to become a smart medical education park.
