Shaanxi University of Science & Technology

Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (SUST) is located in Xi'an, a historic capital and modern tech hub in China. It is a key high-level university in Shaanxi Province, supported by the National Basic Capacity Building Project for Central and Western Universities and the 14th Five-Year Plan for Strengthening Education.

SUST originated from the Beijing Institute of Light Industry, founded in 1958 as China's first higher education institution for light industry. It moved to Shaanxi in 1970 and was renamed in 2002. The university is renowned for its light industry and engineering programs, while also offering a wide range of disciplines including science, management, arts, and law.

SUST's flagship programs include Light Industry Technology and Engineering, Food Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. Light Industry Technology and Engineering is particularly prestigious, earning the university the nickname 'Cradle of Light Industry Talents' in China.

Several disciplines rank in the top 1% of ESI global rankings, such as Chemistry and Materials Science. As a national 'Double First-Class' cultivation university, SUST has strong industry ties, co-established with the China National Light Industry Council and China Light Industry Group.

SUST comprises 16 colleges offering 72 undergraduate programs, 9 first-level doctoral programs, 22 master's programs, and 4 postdoctoral research stations. The faculty includes over 1,500 full-time teachers, many of whom are senior professors and national talent program recipients.

The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning and innovation, integrating theory with industry practice. The university hosts multiple national and provincial research platforms, such as the State Key Laboratory Cultivation Base for Light Industry Technology and Engineering.
