Ningxia University

Ningxia University (NXU) is located in Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, a city known as the 'Jiangnan beyond the Great Wall' for its rich history and pleasant environment. As a comprehensive university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Ningxia government, NXU was founded in 1958 through the merger of Ningxia Normal College, Ningxia Agricultural College, and Ningxia Medical College.

It is the only national '211 Project' key university and 'Double First-Class' initiative university in the region, enjoying a strong reputation in Northwest China. The university covers 3,084 mu of land, with an additional 2,050 mu of teaching and experimental farms, and a building area of 958,000 square meters.

Ningxia University's flagship programs include Grassland Science, Ethnology, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Ecology. Grassland Science, the first doctoral program in Ningxia, leads in grassland ecology and forage breeding.

Ethnology leverages the region's multi-ethnic character to study Hui culture and Northwest ethnic relations, offering unique insights. Chemical Engineering and Ecology are recognized as national 'Double First-Class' disciplines.

Ningxia University comprises 24 schools and colleges, offering 86 undergraduate programs across ten disciplines: humanities, sciences, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, management, law, education, and arts. It has 12 first-level doctoral programs, 33 first-level master's programs, 28 professional master's programs, and 4 postdoctoral research stations.

The faculty includes 2,726 staff, with over 50% holding senior titles, and many recognized by national talent programs. The university hosts key laboratories and engineering research centers at provincial and ministerial levels, focusing on arid zone ecology, new energy materials, and ethnic cultural heritage preservation.

The main campus of Ningxia University is located in Xixia District, Yinchuan, featuring lush greenery and a pleasant environment, earning it the nickname 'Garden on the Frontier'. Facilities include modern libraries, labs, sports venues, and smart classrooms.
