Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications

Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT), located in the municipality of Chongqing in Southwest China, is a key university with a focus on information technology. It is established by the Chongqing Municipal Government and jointly built with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, making it one of the state-designated universities for posts and telecommunications.

Its history dates back to 1950, when a postal staff training class was set up on the former site of the Directorate General of Posts. After several transformations, it became Chongqing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications in 1959 and was renamed CQUPT in 2006.

CQUPT is renowned in the field of information and communication technology. Its flagship programs include Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Automation, and Electronic Information Engineering, all recognized as national-level specialty programs.

The university is a pilot for Chongqing's high-level new engineering and excellent engineer college, and its graduates enjoy high employment rates, earning it the title of National Model University for Graduate Employment.

The university has a strong faculty of over 2,100 staff, including more than 900 with senior titles and over 1,200 doctoral and master's supervisors. Teaching follows the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, emphasizing hands-on learning through labs and project-based courses.

Research is boosted by the Nanshan Research Strengthening Project, with 500 million RMB invested during the '14th Five-Year Plan' period. It houses key provincial and ministerial labs such as the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Mobile Communication Technology.

The campus spans 4,034 mu (269 hectares) with over 890,000 square meters of buildings, featuring high greenery coverage and a pleasant environment. The library holds 4.3 million volumes and provides rich digital resources.

Living facilities include multiple canteens, a gymnasium, swimming pool, and standard sports fields. Dormitories are well-equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and internet access. Located in the Nanshan scenic area, the campus offers fresh air and convenient transport to downtown Chongqing.
