Xuzhou Medical University (XZMU) is located in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, a full-time public university sponsored by the Jiangsu Provincial Government and a key institution under the Jiangsu High-Level University Construction Peak Plan.
Tracing its roots to the Jiangsu Provincial Medical and Political College founded in 1934, it evolved through the Xuzhou Branch of Nanjing Medical College and Xuzhou Medical College before adopting its current name in 2016.
XZMU is renowned for its clinical medicine program and boasts eight disciplines ranked in the top 1% of ESI global rankings: Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Neuroscience & Behavior, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Biology & Biochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, and Immunology.
It is a pilot university for the national 'Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program' and one of the first batch of pilot universities for reforming clinical medicine master's professional training models. Recognized as an advanced university for faculty development and scientific research in Jiangsu, XZMU offers a complete academic pathway with a doctoral degree in clinical medicine and multiple postdoctoral stations.
The university comprises 18 schools and departments offering 29 undergraduate programs. It has two first-level doctoral degree authorization points, nine first-level master's degree authorization points, and ten professional master's degree authorization points.
The faculty includes 13 national-level talents and two national-level teams, including a Huang Danian-style teaching team. XZMU hosts high-level research platforms such as the Ministry of Education's Provincial-Ministerial Co-innovation Center for Tumor Biotherapy.
