Anhui University of Science & Technology

Anhui University of Science and Technology (AUST) is located in Huainan City, Anhui Province, with an additional campus in the provincial capital Hefei. It is a key high-level university under the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, jointly built by the Anhui Provincial Government and the Ministry of Emergency Management.

AUST is part of the National Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China and the Ministry of Education's Excellence Engineer Education and Training Program. It is also a national training base for graduate employability, one of the first 50 model universities for innovation and entrepreneurship, and one of the first 99 demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform.

AUST is renowned for its strengths in safety science and engineering, and mining engineering, with additional excellence in civil, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering. Its safety science and engineering discipline was rated B+ in the national discipline evaluation, ranking among the top in China.

The university is a key talent cultivation and research base for the coal industry and emergency management, often called the 'Whampoa Military Academy of coal mine safety.' It offers 6 postdoctoral research stations, 7 first-level doctoral degree programs, 2 professional doctoral degree programs, and 23 first-level master's degree programs, forming a complete bachelor-master-doctor education system.

AUST boasts a highly qualified faculty of 4,900 (including the affiliated hospital), with over 1,000 senior professors, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and recipients of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund.

The university implements the Excellence Engineer Education and Training Program, emphasizing the integration of theory and practice, with innovative experimental classes and industry-academia cooperation courses. It has more than 30 provincial and ministerial-level research platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Deep Coal Mining Response and Disaster Prevention and Control, and the Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Safety and Efficient Mining of the Ministry of Education.

AUST has two campuses in Huainan and Hefei, covering a total area of nearly 4,000 mu (about 667 acres). The Huainan campus is located at the foot of Dongshan Mountain, featuring a green and pleasant environment with modern teaching buildings, libraries, laboratories, sports venues, and student activity centers.

The Hefei campus is in the Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone, with convenient transportation and advanced facilities, closely linked to the automotive industry. Student dormitories are equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and internet, and the canteens offer a variety of dining options.
