Kunming Medical University

Kunming Medical University (KMU), located in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in southwestern China, is the largest and most comprehensive medical university in the province, integrating teaching, medical care, and research.

Administered by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, KMU is a key institution under the national 'Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China' and a Yunnan first-class discipline construction university.

KMU's flagship programs include Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Stomatology, with Clinical Medicine recognized as a national-level specialty and Pharmacy as a Yunnan first-class discipline. The university is a pilot institution for the Ministry of Education's 'Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program' and participates in the National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program.

As Yunnan's largest medical talent training base, KMU offers 5 first-level doctoral degree programs and 8 first-level master's degree programs covering basic medicine, clinical medicine, public health, and more. Its directly affiliated hospitals employ over 4,500 medical professionals, providing strong support for clinical teaching and research.

KMU comprises 18 schools and departments offering 36 undergraduate programs across medicine, science, and management. The faculty is highly qualified, with 6,236 staff members (including those at affiliated hospitals), many with overseas experience.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, with clinical training conducted at affiliated and teaching hospitals from early stages. Research is supported by several provincial and ministerial key laboratories and centers, such as the Yunnan Provincial Key Laboratory of Medical Molecular Biology and the Yunnan Institute of Materia Medica, undertaking national and provincial projects.

The main Chenggong campus is located in the university town, featuring modern teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, and sports facilities amidst green surroundings. Student dormitories are well-equipped with air conditioning, internet, and private bathrooms; international students can stay in dedicated international apartments.

Multiple campus cafeterias serve Chinese, halal, and Western food. An international student service center provides support for visas, accommodation, and healthcare. The Renmin West Road and Pingzheng campuses are in the city center, offering convenient access to internships and urban life.
