Yunnan Normal University

Yunnan Normal University (YNNU) is situated in Kunming, Yunnan Province, a city known for its spring-like climate year-round. It is jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Yunnan Provincial Government, and is part of the National Midwestern Universities Basic Capacity Building Project and Yunnan Province First-Class Discipline Construction.

As one of the first Ministry of Education International Student Demonstration Bases and a recipient institution for Chinese Government Scholarships, YNNU has a strong international orientation. It is also one of three local higher normal institutions piloting the national free teacher education program.

YNNU's flagship programs include teacher education, education, psychology, geography, and energy & environmental science. It is a key university under the Excellent Teacher Training Plan and a national model for innovation and entrepreneurship education.

As one of ten key universities supporting Chinese language teaching in neighboring countries, it excels in Chinese language education and attracts many international students. The university offers 8 first-level doctoral degree programs and 6 postdoctoral research stations, reflecting strong research capabilities.

YNNU comprises 2 faculties, 20 schools, and 40 research institutes, offering 71 undergraduate majors. The faculty includes 2,447 staff members, many of whom are national-level experts. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, especially in teacher education, with a complete pathway from bachelor's to doctoral degrees.

Research platforms include provincial key laboratories such as the Yunnan Key Laboratory of Plateau Geographic Processes and Environmental Change. The library holds 4.14 million print books and 1.28 million e-books, supporting academic excellence.

The YNNU campus covers 2,848 mu (about 190 hectares) with lush greenery and blooming flowers throughout the year. The main campus in Chenggong District, Kunming, is well-connected and equipped with modern facilities including libraries, gymnasiums, and student dormitories.
