Henan Medical University

Henan Medical University, located in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, is the only publicly funded western medicine undergraduate institution independently established in Henan. It is a participant in the national '111 Plan' and the 'Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program'.

The university traces its origins to a western medicine clinic opened in 1896 by Dr. William Lockhart in Weihui, with medical education beginning in 1922 at the Huimin Hospital Nursing School. It was officially renamed Henan Medical University in June 2025.

Henan Medical University's flagship programs include clinical medicine, pharmacy, and nursing, with four disciplines ranking in the top 1% of ESI globally. It features 15 national or provincial characteristic specialties, three national key clinical specialties, and one national key traditional Chinese medicine specialty.

Clinical medicine is a national pilot comprehensive reform program. As a leader in medical education in Henan, the university is authorized to recommend outstanding undergraduates for master's programs without entrance exams.

The university comprises 29 teaching units offering 39 undergraduate programs, with 12 first-level master's degree authorization points, 12 professional master's degree categories, and 2 postdoctoral research stations. The faculty exceeds 14,000, including clinical teachers from five affiliated hospitals.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, providing extensive clinical internship opportunities through affiliated hospitals. For research, the university has teaching and research equipment worth 560 million yuan, along with multiple provincial key laboratories and research centers, supporting students in cutting-edge research in basic medicine, clinical medicine, and pharmacy.

The campus covers about 2.67 million square meters, featuring a green and pleasant environment with modern teaching buildings, laboratories, and a library housing 1.64 million paper books and rich electronic resources. Living facilities are well-developed, including student dormitories, canteens, sports venues, and a medical service center.

The campus also hosts several research platforms and clinical skills training centers, providing an excellent environment for study and practice.
