Introduction

Civil Aviation University of China: China's top aviation university, dedicated to cultivating global aviation leaders and driving aerospace innovation, located in Tianjin.

Overview

Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC), located in the vibrant port city of Tianjin, is a premier institution directly under the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and jointly supported by Tianjin Municipality and the Ministry of Education.

Its roots trace back to 1951 when the Second Civil Aviation School was founded, and it was renamed CAUC in 2006. As a Tianjin 'Double First-Class' university, CAUC focuses on talent cultivation and research across the entire civil aviation industry chain.

Features & strengths

CAUC's core strength lies in its irreplaceable industry position and comprehensive program coverage. As the only undergraduate university directly under CAAC, it is known as the 'Cradle of China's Aviation Talent.' The university offers 2 first-level doctoral programs and 15 first-level master's programs, covering key fields like Aerospace Science and Technology, Transportation Engineering, and Safety Science.

Flagship majors include Flight Technology, Air Traffic Management, Aeronautical Engineering, and Aviation Safety Management, which are top-ranked nationally. Graduate employment rates consistently exceed 95%, with most graduates joining major airlines like Air China, China Eastern, and China Southern, or civil aviation authorities.

Teaching & research

Academically, CAUC emphasizes deep integration of theory and practice. It comprises 16 colleges offering 47 undergraduate programs, many of which are recognized as national first-class programs. The faculty is highly qualified, with over 40% holding senior titles and many having overseas or industry experience.

The curriculum stresses engineering practice and industry standards, allowing students to engage in real aircraft maintenance, flight simulation, and air traffic control exercises. Research platforms include the CAAC Aviation Safety Research Institute and key laboratories for civil aviation information technology, along with joint labs with COMAC, Airbus, and Boeing.

Campus & facilities

CAUC boasts modern campuses with top-tier facilities. The Dongli campus features historic charm with tree-lined paths and well-equipped buildings, while the Ninghe campus, opened in 2022, offers smart classrooms, advanced labs, and a large library.

The three flight training bases are equipped with real aircraft and simulators for 24/7 training. Student dormitories are air-conditioned with private bathrooms, and canteens serve diverse Chinese and Western cuisines. Sports facilities include a gymnasium, swimming pool, and track field.
