Chengdu University

Chengdu University (CDU) is a comprehensive university located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province and a major hub in southwestern China. Founded in 1978 and restored to its current name in 2018, CDU is jointly built by the province and the city, with the city as the primary governing body.

It is a key university under the Sichuan Provincial and Chengdu Municipal governments, selected for the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program and the Double Ten Thousand Plan for first-class undergraduate programs.

CDU's strengths lie in engineering, medicine, and arts. In engineering, programs like Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Food Science are recognized as national first-class undergraduate majors. The university is part of the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, emphasizing hands-on innovation.

In medicine, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing benefit from affiliated hospitals and the Sichuan Antibiotics Industrial Research Institute, a renowned drug R&D center. In arts, Animation and Visual Communication Design have won international awards.

CDU comprises 23 colleges offering 75 undergraduate majors, 10 first-level master's degree disciplines, and 24 professional master's degree categories. The faculty includes over 1,770 full-time teachers, more than 50% with senior titles and over 40% with doctoral degrees.

Teaching and research equipment totals 643 million RMB. The curriculum integrates theory with practice through校企合作 (school-enterprise cooperation) with companies like Huawei, Tencent, and WuXi AppTec. The Sichuan Antibiotics Industrial Research Institute leads national drug research.

The campus is green and modern, with well-equipped teaching buildings, labs, a library, and sports facilities. Student dormitories have air conditioning, hot water, and private bathrooms. Canteens serve diverse Chinese and Western cuisines.
