Overview

Hebei University of Chinese Medicine (HUCTCM) is located in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province. It is a key provincial university jointly established by the Hebei Provincial Government and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Designated as a 'Double First-Class' construction university and a doctoral degree-granting institution, HUCTCM traces its roots back to 1956 and was renamed in 2023. With over 10,000 full-time students, including more than 1,400 postgraduates, the university is authorized to recommend outstanding undergraduates for master's programs without examination.

Features & strengths

HUCTCM's flagship programs are Chinese Medicine and Chinese Materia Medica (Pharmacy). The Chinese Medicine program is part of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Doctor (TCM) Education and Training Plan, featuring a '5+3' integrated model that combines undergraduate study with standardized residency training.

The university is a demonstration institution for innovation and entrepreneurship education in Hebei. It holds two first-level doctoral degree disciplines and one professional doctoral category, covering 24 doctoral programs, along with three master's disciplines and six professional master's categories.

Teaching & research

The university comprises 12 teaching units offering 23 undergraduate programs across medicine, science, engineering, and management. The faculty includes 779 full-time teachers, many with senior titles and dual clinical-teaching roles.

The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning, with ample lab sessions and clinical rotations in TCM and pharmacy programs. Research platforms include a postdoctoral station, several provincial key laboratories (e.g., Hebei Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Resource Utilization and Quality Evaluation), and research centers.

Campus & facilities

HUCTCM has four campuses: Xingyuan, Juquan, Qizhou, and Dongyuan, covering about 895 mu (59.7 hectares) with 398,800 square meters of buildings. The campuses blend traditional Chinese medicine aesthetics with modern architecture, featuring green spaces and cultural elements.
