Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Located in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province in southwestern China, Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (GUTCM) is a full-time public university specializing in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Founded in 1965 through the merger of several institutions, it was renamed in 2018.

As a co-built university by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Guizhou Provincial Government, GUTCM is a pilot university for the Excellent Doctor of TCM Education and Training Program. The university has two campuses, Huaxi and Jiaxiu, covering about 98.7 hectares, with modern facilities and a pleasant environment.

GUTCM is a key supported university in Guizhou with outstanding strengths in TCM. It offers 2 first-level doctoral degree programs and 1 professional doctoral degree, with flagship majors in Chinese Materia Medica and Chinese Medicine.

These disciplines enjoy high national reputation, especially in ethnic medicine research. As a co-built university with the National Administration of TCM, it undertakes numerous national research projects, achieving remarkable results in TCM modernization and ethnic drug development.

GUTCM boasts a strong faculty of 1,582 full-time teachers, including nationally renowned TCM experts and academic leaders. The curriculum integrates classical TCM theories with modern medical science, emphasizing clinical skills and research capabilities across 40 undergraduate programs such as Chinese Medicine, Pharmacy, Acupuncture, and Nursing.

The university has multiple provincial and ministerial research platforms, including the Guizhou Institute of Chinese Materia Medica and the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, providing ample lab and internship opportunities.

The main Huaxi campus is located in the scenic Huaxi District of Guiyang, featuring lush greenery and a blend of traditional and modern architecture. The Jiaxiu campus is in the city center with convenient transportation.

Campuses are equipped with advanced teaching buildings, libraries, labs, sports facilities, and dormitories. Student dormitories are well-furnished with air conditioning and internet access. Canteens offer diverse dining options, including TCM diet specialties.
