Chongqing University of Science and Technology

Chongqing University of Science and Technology (CQUST) is located in the central area of the Western (Chongqing) Science City. It is a full-time public undergraduate university and a pilot unit of the National Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program.

The university traces its roots to two institutions founded in 1951: Chongqing Industrial College and Chongqing Petroleum College, which merged in 2004 to form Chongqing University of Science and Technology, and was renamed in 2023.

CQUST's flagship programs include Petroleum Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Design and Automation, which enjoy high industry reputation. As a pilot unit of the National Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program and vice-chairman of the National Alliance of Applied Technology Universities, CQUST is a key high-level new engineering university supported by Chongqing.

The university is jointly built with China's three major oil companies (CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC), giving it unique advantages in industry-university-research integration. It ranks among the top applied universities in China, with a graduate employment rate consistently above 95%.

CQUST comprises 19 schools and colleges, 3 research institutes, and offers 70 undergraduate programs. The faculty includes over 1,900 staff, with more than 40% holding senior academic titles. The curriculum emphasizes new engineering disciplines, combining theory with practice through project-based learning and school-enterprise joint training.

Research facilities are valued at nearly 750 million RMB, with multiple provincial-level key laboratories and engineering research centers. The library spans 40,000 square meters, housing 2.17 million print books and 2.05 million e-books, providing rich academic resources.

Located in the core area of Western Science City, the campus features a green and pleasant environment. Modern teaching buildings, labs, and sports facilities are well-equipped. Student dormitories are comfortable with air conditioning, hot water, and internet access.
