Yunnan University of Finance and Economics

Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YNUFE) is a provincial key university located in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in Southwest China. It focuses on economics and management, while also offering programs in law, literature, science, and engineering.

The university traces its roots back to 1951 as the Yunnan Provincial Finance Cadre School, later becoming Yunnan Finance and Trade College in 1981, and was renamed Yunnan University of Finance and Economics in 2006. It gained doctoral degree-granting status in 2013 and was listed among universities eligible to recommend outstanding graduates for postgraduate study without examination in 2017.

YNUFE's flagship programs are in economics and management, including accounting, finance, international economics and trade, and business administration, which enjoy strong reputations in Yunnan and beyond. As a provincial key university, it offers 12 first-level master's programs, 18 professional master's programs, and 66 undergraduate majors across multiple disciplines.

In the fourth round of China's discipline evaluation, applied economics, business administration, and statistics were rated B-level, among the best in the province. The university hosts several provincial key labs and research bases, such as the Yunnan Key Laboratory of Cross-border Trade and Financial Security.

YNUFE boasts a highly qualified faculty, with over 40% of full-time teachers holding doctoral degrees, and many recognized by national and provincial talent programs. The university adopts a student-centered teaching approach, blending theory with practice, and offers bilingual and English-taught programs such as International Business and Financial Engineering.

Research is supported by specialized institutes like the Institute of Indian Ocean Regional and Country Studies and the Port Economy Research Institute, focusing on regional economics, cross-border trade, and financial security.

YNUFE has two modern campuses: Longquan Road Campus in downtown Kunming offers convenient transportation and vibrant surroundings, while Anning Campus in the scenic Anning District features state-of-the-art facilities. Both campuses are lush with greenery and include standard sports fields, a swimming pool, and student activity centers.

Dormitories are equipped with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and high-speed internet. Dining options are diverse, including halal and international cuisine. The International Student Service Center provides one-stop support for visa, accommodation, and cultural adaptation, and organizes regular cultural activities to help international students integrate into campus life.
