Dalian University

Dalian University (DLU) is a comprehensive university located in Dalian, Liaoning Province, China, jointly established by the provincial and municipal governments. Its history dates back to 1949, and the current institution was formed in 1987 through the merger of Dalian University, Dalian Normal College, and Dalian Health School, with Dalian Railway Health School joining in 2008.

As a member of the National 111 Project and the Ministry of Education's Excellent Teacher Training Program, DLU is also a Liaoning Province 'First-Class Disciplines' construction university and a National College Student Cultural Quality Education Base.

Dalian University's strengths lie in its strong disciplinary foundation, innovation ecosystem, and industry connections. It is a Liaoning Province 'First-Class Disciplines' university with notable programs in medicine, engineering, and education, including clinical medicine, nursing, and mechanical engineering.

As a National Technology Transfer Demonstration Institution and Intellectual Property Pilot Unit, DLU was the first Chinese university to apply for open patent licensing, highlighting its leadership in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.

Academically, Dalian University boasts a highly qualified faculty of over 6,900 staff (including affiliated hospitals), with many national-level experts. It offers 67 undergraduate programs (54 enrolling) across 26 colleges, covering sciences, engineering, medicine, humanities, law, economics, management, education, and arts.

Graduate education includes 16 first-level master's programs and 12 professional master's degrees. The curriculum integrates theory with practice, featuring the Excellent Teacher Training Program, New Engineering initiatives, and CDIO methodology to enhance problem-solving and innovation skills.
