Yunnan Agricultural University

Yunnan Agricultural University (YAU) is situated in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, known as the 'Spring City' for its mild climate year-round. As a key university under the Yunnan provincial government, YAU is jointly built with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

It has been selected into the National Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Education and Training Program and the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, and is a model university for innovation and entrepreneurship education.

YAU's flagship disciplines include agronomy, plant protection, animal science, tobacco science, tea science, and food science and engineering, which are highly regarded in Southwest China and beyond. As a jointly built university, it hosts multiple national and provincial research platforms, such as a State Key Laboratory cultivation base and a National Engineering Research Center, achieving notable results in plateau characteristic agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and tobacco technology.

YAU boasts a highly qualified faculty, including members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and recipients of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund. The university offers 6 first-level doctoral programs, 14 first-level master's programs, and 6 postdoctoral research stations, covering agriculture, engineering, and sciences.

Undergraduate education integrates theory with practice across 73 majors, many of which are recognized as national first-class undergraduate programs. Research is supported by platforms like the State Key Laboratory cultivation base and national agricultural science and technology demonstration parks, with breakthroughs in crop genetics, plant disease control, and animal nutrition.

The main campus of YAU is located in Heilongtan, northern Kunming, surrounded by lush greenery and near the scenic Heilongtan Park. The university has four campuses covering 3,821 mu, with a total building area of 732,600 square meters.

Teaching and research equipment is valued at 450 million RMB, including modern laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and smart classrooms. Student dormitories are equipped with air conditioning and internet, and cafeterias offer diverse dining options, including halal food.
