Hunan University of Technology

Hunan University of Technology (HUT) is located in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province. It is a multi-disciplinary university with a focus on engineering and a distinctive strength in packaging. Co-established by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Hunan Provincial Government, HUT is recognized as a university for cultivating world-class disciplines in Hunan and a domestic first-class discipline construction university.

Its history dates back to the Zhuzhou Normal School founded in 1958, and it was renamed Hunan University of Technology in 2006. HUT is the first Chinese member of the International Association of Packaging Research Institutes (IAPRI) and serves as the chair unit of the Packaging Education Committee of the China Packaging Federation, giving it international influence in the packaging field.

HUT's flagship program is Packaging Engineering, leveraging its role in the China Packaging Federation and IAPRI to lead in packaging design, materials, and machinery. Materials Science and Engineering has been selected for the second round of world-class discipline cultivation in Hunan Province, another major strength.

The university offers 3 first-level doctoral degree programs, 1 postdoctoral research station, and 18 first-level master's programs covering 56 second-level disciplines. In terms of industry reputation, HUT is the China Packaging Technology Training Center and runs a doctoral talent training project for national special needs, earning the title 'Flag of China's Packaging Education.' Additionally, through mergers with Hunan Metallurgical Vocational and Technical College and other institutions, HUT has strong foundations in metallurgy, civil engineering, and finance, forming a balanced multi-disciplinary structure.

HUT has 18 teaching colleges and 1 independent college, offering 83 undergraduate programs. The faculty includes 2,820 staff, with a high proportion of senior professors and several national and provincial teaching masters.

The total value of teaching and research equipment is 463 million RMB, supporting key laboratories like the 'Advanced Packaging Materials and Technology' Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory. The curriculum emphasizes theory-practice integration: Packaging Engineering features core courses in structural design, printing, and testing, with industry internship partnerships.

HUT has two campuses covering 3,853.7 mu, with a green and pleasant environment. The main campus in Tianyuan District, Zhuzhou, offers convenient transportation and complete living facilities. Dormitories are equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and internet.

Canteens provide diverse food options. The library has rich collections and electronic resources. Sports facilities include track fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Student activity centers and entrepreneurship incubation bases support extracurricular activities and innovation.
