Overview
Nanjing Xiaozhuang University is a full-time public undergraduate institution located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, under the jurisdiction of Nanjing Municipal Government. Its predecessor was the Xiaozhuang Experimental Rural Normal School founded in 1927 by renowned educator Tao Xingzhi, making it the birthplace of China's rural teacher education and a spiritual cradle for modern Chinese educators.
The university was formed in 2000 through the merger of Nanjing Normal College, Nanjing Education College, and Nanjing Xiaozhuang Normal School, with Nanjing Preschool Normal College joining in 2014. It now has three campuses—Fangshan, Mochou, and Xiaozhuang (Xingzhi Garden)—covering nearly 1,500 mu (about 100 hectares), with around 18,000 full-time undergraduate students and 1,432 faculty and staff.
