Shandong Sport University

Shandong Sport University (SSU), also known as 'Shanti', is a full-time public higher education institution located in Jinan, Shandong Province, with a second campus in Rizhao. It is supervised by the Shandong Provincial Sports Bureau and the Department of Education.

Founded in 1958 through the merger of the Physical Education Department of Shandong Normal University and Jinan Sports School, SSU was restructured in 2000 by integrating the Provincial Sports Technology Institute and the Sports Science Research Center, bringing together competitive sports and research resources.

SSU's core strengths lie in its comprehensive disciplinary coverage and industry influence. It is the only university in Shandong offering all six secondary sports disciplines (Sports Humanities and Sociology, Human Movement Science, Physical Education and Training, Traditional Ethnic Sports, Sports Rehabilitation, and Sports Equipment Engineering) along with four professional master's fields.

As one of China's first institutions authorized to confer professional master's degrees in sports and a first-level master's degree in sports science, SSU is a key supported unit for doctoral degree construction in Shandong.

Academically, SSU has 13 teaching units covering interdisciplinary fields such as sports science, education, medicine, and engineering. The faculty includes 570 full-time teachers, many of whom are national-level coaches and research experts.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, offering cutting-edge directions like sports rehabilitation and sports equipment engineering. Research facilities are advanced, with total equipment value of approximately 235 million RMB and a library holding 2.1467 million volumes.

SSU operates two campuses in Jinan and Rizhao. The Jinan campus is located in the provincial capital with convenient transportation and rich cultural resources, while the Rizhao campus is near the sea, offering a pleasant environment ideal for sports training.

Facilities are modern, including advanced training venues, laboratories, and rehabilitation centers. Equipment totals about 235 million RMB, and the library holds 2.1467 million volumes, providing ample academic resources.
