Hubei University of Automotive Technology

Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT) is located in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, and is the only full-time undergraduate university in China named after automobiles. The university focuses on engineering while coordinating the development of management, economics, literature, science, law, and arts.

It is a key institution under the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, a university under construction for Hubei Province's Double First-Class initiative, and authorized to establish doctoral degree programs.

HUAT's core strength lies in its unique automotive positioning and deep industrial roots. As China's only university named after automobiles, it has a natural connection with Dongfeng Motor Corporation (formerly Second Automobile Works).

The university excels in automotive engineering, mechanical design and automation, vehicle engineering, and materials forming and control. It is a key institution under the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, a national project university for New Engineering Research and Practice, and a member of the CDIO Engineering Education Alliance, emphasizing practical and innovative abilities.

HUAT's teaching and research are closely aligned with the automotive industry. The university has over 1,100 full-time faculty and researchers, with more than 40% holding senior professional titles, including several national and provincial talent program members.

It offers 51 undergraduate programs across seven disciplines: engineering, management, economics, literature, science, law, and arts. Flagship programs such as Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical Design and Automation, and Materials Forming and Control are national first-class undergraduate program construction sites.

Located at the foot of Wudang Mountain in Shiyan City, HUAT's campus is known for its beautiful environment and fresh air. Covering nearly 1,900 mu (127 hectares) with over 660,000 square meters of buildings, the campus features modern teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, gymnasiums, and student dormitories.

The library holds 1.71 million print books and 3.33 million e-books, with 24-hour study areas and digital resources. Dormitories are equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and private bathrooms, ensuring comfortable living.
