Jiangxi University of Water Resources and Electric Power

Located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, Jiangxi University of Water Resources and Electric Power is a university jointly established by the Jiangxi Provincial Government and the Ministry of Water Resources.

It focuses on water resources and electric power, while also offering a wide range of disciplines including engineering, science, management, economics, and humanities. The university traces its roots back to the Jiangxi Institute of Water Resources and Electric Power founded in 1958, was upgraded to an undergraduate institution in 2004, and renamed to its current name in 2025.

The university's core strengths lie in its deep expertise and industry influence in water resources and electric power. Flagship programs such as Water Resources Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering are among the best in the region, with Water Resources Engineering selected as a first-class discipline in Jiangxi Province.

As a member of the national Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, the university emphasizes hands-on engineering skills and maintains close partnerships with major water and power enterprises, providing students with abundant internship and job opportunities.

The university comprises 18 teaching schools and departments, offering 57 undergraduate programs across engineering, science, management, economics, humanities, and law. The faculty includes industry experts and professors with overseas backgrounds, emphasizing small-class teaching and personalized guidance.

The curriculum integrates theory with practice, featuring multiple provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers and off-campus internship bases. In research, the university focuses on water resources, electric power, ecological conservation, and smart manufacturing, hosting several provincial and ministerial research platforms such as the Jiangxi Key Laboratory of Efficient Water Resources Utilization and Protection.

The university has two campuses, Yaohu and Pengqiao, covering a total area of 1,304,400 square meters with 670,600 square meters of building space. The main Yaohu campus features a scenic lake and high greenery, providing a pleasant learning environment.

The library holds 1.758 million print books and 2.38 million e-books, offering rich resources. Teaching facilities are modern, including multimedia classrooms, specialized labs, and an engineering training center. Living conditions are comfortable, with air-conditioned dormitories, hot water, and diverse dining options.
