Tongren University

Tongren University (TRU) is located in Tongren City, Guizhou Province, in the heart of the Wuling Mountain area, known for its beautiful ecology and diverse ethnic cultures. It is a full-time public undergraduate institution under the administration of Guizhou Province and one of the first pilot universities in Guizhou for application-oriented transformation.

The university traces its origins to Mingde School founded in 1920 and was upgraded to a university by the Ministry of Education in 2006. Covering about 796 mu (53 hectares), TRU has 11 colleges, 36 undergraduate programs, 8,387 full-time undergraduates, and 60 graduate students.

Tongren University is distinguished by its application-oriented approach and unique strengths. It is a recipient of the Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award for 'Excellent School' and a designated institution for the Ministry of Education's Scientific Work Ability Enhancement Program.

The university boasts 10 nationally recognized teacher certification programs, one National Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Training Program, one National Ethnic Culture Heritage and Innovation Demonstration Program, and 10 Guizhou first-class undergraduate programs.

The university has 590 full-time faculty members, with a high proportion holding senior titles and a growing team of dual-qualified teachers. Teaching and research equipment totals 113.9 million yuan, and the library holds 1.18 million paper books and 3.18 million e-books, providing solid support for teaching and research.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, promoting industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, with multiple experimental training centers and off-campus practice bases. Research focuses on local economic and social needs, with distinctive areas in ethnic culture, ecological agriculture, and new materials, undertaking many national and provincial projects.

Located in the Chuandong Education Park, the campus moved to its current site in 2015, achieving a unified campus with modern facilities and a pleasant environment. Covering about 796 mu, it features high greenery coverage and architecture blending local ethnic characteristics.

The campus has well-planned teaching, living, and sports areas, including smart classrooms, a library, gymnasium, and student apartments equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and internet. Dining halls offer diverse food options, and an ethnic culture exhibition center hosts regular cultural events, enriching student life.
