University Profile

Introduction

Civil Aviation Flight University of China: Asia's leading cradle for civil aviation pilots, UN MPL pilot unit, and first Asian university in ICAO's Future Aviation Talent Program.

Overview

Founded in 1956, the Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC) is a full-time undergraduate university directly under the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). It is the first university in Asia to be included in the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) 'Future Aviation Talent Program' and a key pilot unit for the United Nations' Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) program.

Located in Sichuan Province, CAFUC operates two main campuses: Guanghan and Chengdu Tianfu, covering over 19,000 mu. With a strong international focus, the university collaborates with global aviation organizations and attracts students from around the world.

Features & strengths

CAFUC's flagship program is Flight Technology, a national-level characteristic specialty that has trained the majority of China's civil aviation pilots. The university boasts two national-level characteristic specialties (Flight Technology and Transportation) and three provincial-level ones, along with 56 national and provincial first-class courses.

It is the only Asian university selected for ICAO's 'Future Aviation Talent Program' and a UN MPL pilot unit. CAFUC manages five general aviation and transport airports, five flight training branches, and five training bases, making its flight training scale among the largest globally.

Teaching & research

CAFUC has 14 secondary colleges offering 42 undergraduate and vocational programs and 20 master's degree authorization points, covering flight technology, transportation, aviation engineering, air traffic management, and aviation safety.

The faculty includes 1,639 full-time teachers, many with international flight experience and overseas study backgrounds. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on training with advanced flight simulators and real aircraft. Research is conducted in collaboration with ICAO, Boeing, Airbus, and other partners, focusing on aviation safety, drone technology, and more.

Campus & facilities

CAFUC has two main campuses: Guanghan and Chengdu Tianfu. The Guanghan campus features historic buildings, multiple flight training airports, and simulation centers. The Chengdu Tianfu campus, opened in February 2024, boasts modern classrooms, labs, and a library.

Both campuses are green and well-maintained, with student dormitories equipped with air conditioning and private bathrooms. Dining halls offer a variety of Chinese and Western cuisines. Sports facilities, student activity centers, and a medical center ensure a comfortable living environment.
