Xiamen Medical College

Xiamen Medical College is a full-time public undergraduate institution located in Xiamen, a coastal city in southeastern China known for its international atmosphere and economic vitality. Approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2016, it is one of only three medical undergraduate universities in Fujian Province and the sole medical college in Xiamen and southwestern Fujian.

Its origins trace back to a specialized medical school founded on Gulangyu Island in 1898, giving it over a century of medical education history. As a special economic zone and popular tourist destination, Xiamen offers a vibrant, multicultural environment that enriches the college's international outlook.

Xiamen Medical College's key strengths lie in its unique regional position and century-old medical heritage. As the only medical undergraduate institution in southwestern Fujian, it plays a critical role in training healthcare professionals for the province.

The college offers 18 undergraduate majors, including popular fields such as Clinical Medicine, Stomatology, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medical Laboratory Science. Clinical Medicine and Nursing are flagship programs, with graduate employment rates consistently above 95%.

Xiamen Medical College comprises 12 teaching units and 3 teaching support units, offering a discipline system centered on medicine with coordinated development in science, management, and other fields. The faculty is highly qualified, with over 40% holding senior titles, and many have overseas study or research experience.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, employing case-based learning, simulation, and clinical rotations to enhance clinical skills and critical thinking. The college hosts several provincial key laboratories and research platforms, such as the Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory and Xiamen Medical Research Center, focusing on oncology, cardiovascular diseases, and public health.

The Xiamen Medical College campus covers a total area of 885 mu (current campus 520 mu, with a second phase of 365 mu), with a building area of 283,000 square meters. The campus features a blend of Minnan architectural style and modern design, surrounded by lush greenery and year-round greenery.

Facilities include smart classrooms, a virtual simulation center, and anatomy labs. The library offers extensive collections, 24-hour study spaces, and electronic resources.
