Shenyang Institute of Engineering

Shenyang Institute of Engineering (SIE) is a full-time public undergraduate university located in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province. It focuses on engineering while coordinating the development of management, economics, and law disciplines.

The university is jointly established by the Liaoning Provincial Government and the State Power Investment Corporation. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2003, SIE was formed through the merger of Shenyang Electric Power College and Liaoning Vocational College of Commerce, with energy and electric power as its core disciplines.

SIE's core strength lies in its deep roots in the energy and electric power industry. As a key talent cultivation base for the power sector in Northeast China, its predecessor Shenyang Electric Power College dates back to 1952, with over 70 years of history in power education.

The university collaborates closely with major state-owned enterprises like the State Power Investment Corporation, jointly building programs, labs, and internship bases. Graduates enjoy high employment rates in the power industry.

SIE comprises 16 teaching units offering 33 undergraduate programs across engineering, management, economics, and law. The faculty is highly qualified, with over 40% holding senior academic titles, and many have industry experience.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, featuring national-level experimental teaching demonstration centers and multiple provincial virtual simulation labs. Research platforms include the Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of Power System Safe Operation and Energy Saving Technology and the Liaoning Provincial Engineering Research Center for Clean Energy Power Generation Technology.

The campus is beautifully landscaped with high greenery coverage. The main campus is located in Shenbei New District, Shenyang, with convenient transportation. Teaching facilities are modern, including well-equipped lecture buildings, a library, laboratories, and a gymnasium.

The library holds 969,100 print books and 295,100 e-books, providing ample learning resources. Student dormitories are comfortable, equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and internet access. Multiple canteens offer diverse dining options.
