Hubei University of Science and Technology

Hubei University of Science and Technology (HBUST) is a provincial public undergraduate university located in Xianning City, Hubei Province. Its origins trace back to Puqi Normal School founded in 1937 and Hubei Medical College Xianning Branch established in 1965.

In 2002, these two institutions merged to form Xianning College, which was renamed Hubei University of Science and Technology in 2011. The university has two campuses: Wenquan and Xian'an, covering a total area of about 96 hectares with a building area of 530,000 square meters.

HBUST's strengths lie primarily in medicine, teacher education, and industry-education integration. As one of the first pilot universities for the Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program, its clinical medicine, pharmacy, and nursing programs enjoy high reputations.

The university has 3 national first-class undergraduate program construction sites, 3 national characteristic specialty construction sites, and 1 national comprehensive reform pilot program. It is also one of the 100 national demonstration universities for industry-education integration, with deep partnerships with enterprises and hospitals, offering students abundant internship and practical training opportunities.

HBUST boasts a highly qualified faculty of over 1,500 staff, with more than 40% holding senior professional titles and over 85% possessing doctoral or master's degrees. The university offers 54 undergraduate programs across 23 academic colleges, covering seven major disciplines: medicine, science, engineering, humanities, education, economics, and management.

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, adopting a talent cultivation model that combines industry and education. HBUST has 3 master's degree authorization points in clinical medicine, pharmacy, and education, providing opportunities for further study.

HBUST has two campuses: Wenquan and Xian'an, both featuring lush greenery and a pleasant environment. The Wenquan campus is located in the hot spring area of Xianning, offering convenient living conditions, while the Xian'an campus has a more historical atmosphere.

The total campus area is about 96 hectares, with a building area of 530,000 square meters. Teaching and research equipment is valued at approximately 350 million yuan. The library houses 2.4576 million paper books and over 3 million electronic books, with multiple study areas and electronic reading rooms.
