Overview
Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology (GDUPT) is located in Maoming, Guangdong Province, and is the only public undergraduate university in South China with a distinctive focus on petrochemical engineering. It is jointly established by the Guangdong Provincial Government and three of China's largest oil corporations: Sinopec, CNPC, and CNOOC.
GDUPT is a member of the Ministry of Education's 'Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program' and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Engineering Alliance. The university traces its roots back to 1954 as an accelerated middle school affiliated with South China Institute of Technology, and after several transformations, it was renamed Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology in 2010 and became a provincial university in 2021.
