Overview

Chengdu Medical College is located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. It is a full-time public medical university run by the Sichuan Provincial Government and jointly built with the Chengdu Municipal Government.

Its origins date back to 1947, and it was transferred from a military academy to civilian status in 2004, adopting its current name. As a priority cultivation unit for doctoral degree authorization in Sichuan, the college is dedicated to training high-level medical professionals.

Features & strengths

Clinical medicine is the flagship program at Chengdu Medical College. It was the first university in Sichuan to receive clinical medicine professional accreditation from the Ministry of Education, ensuring high teaching quality.

The college is among the first batch of pilot universities for the national Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program, emphasizing hands-on training and innovation. It offers 3 first-level master's degree disciplines and 13 professional master's degree programs in fields like clinical medicine, pharmacy, and nursing.

Teaching & research

The college boasts a faculty of over 1,200, with a high proportion of senior professors, many of whom have overseas study or research experience. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice. Clinical medicine follows an 'early clinical exposure, repeated clinical practice' model, allowing students to engage with real patients from early stages.

Research platforms include the Ministry of Education's Data China 'Hundred Schools Project' and the Sichuan 2011 Plan, focusing on precision medicine, geriatric health, and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. The college houses several provincial key laboratories and research centers, encouraging student participation in research.

Campus & facilities

The main Xindu campus features modern teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, and sports facilities. The campus is green and well-maintained, with student dormitories equipped with air conditioning and private bathrooms.

The Tianhui campus retains a historical charm and a quiet atmosphere. Both campuses have student activity centers, canteens, and supermarkets for daily needs. Convenient subway access connects the campuses to downtown Chengdu, allowing students to explore the city's culture easily.
