Xi'an University

Xi'an University (XAU) is a full-time public higher education institution located in Xi'an, a historic city in Shaanxi Province, China. Approved by the Ministry of Education, the university focuses on applied undergraduate education and also offers master's degree programs.

It is designated as a pilot school for transformation and development in Shaanxi and a provincial first-class applied undergraduate college. Its history dates back to the Shaanxi Normal School founded in 1903, and after several mergers, it was officially named Xi'an University in 2003.

Xi'an University's core strengths lie in its deep-rooted normal school tradition and clear applied orientation. As a master's degree-granting institution in Shaanxi, it offers three professional master's categories covering education and engineering.

Its normal programs (e.g., primary education, preschool education) have a long history and are key training bases for basic education teachers in Shaanxi. The university also develops applied majors such as computer science, mechanical engineering, and tourism management, closely aligned with local industries.

Xi'an University boasts a well-structured faculty of over 1,100, with more than 40% holding senior titles and over 85% of full-time teachers having doctoral or master's degrees. The university emphasizes teaching reform, adopting an 'industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation' talent cultivation model, and has established internship bases with many well-known companies.

In research, it hosts several provincial key laboratories and engineering research centers, such as the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Surface Engineering and Remanufacturing and the Shaanxi Engineering Research Center for AI and Big Data Applications.

Xi'an University has three distinctive campuses. The main Gaoxin campus features modern teaching buildings, a library, labs, and sports facilities in a green environment. The Guanzhong Shuyuan campus, located inside the ancient city wall, is a historic Ming-Qing academy site with traditional architecture, mainly hosting normal programs.

The Taibai campus is near the Xi'an High-tech Zone, facilitating internships and employment. Student dormitories are equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and internet; canteens offer diverse Chinese and Western food.
