Pingdingshan University

Pingdingshan University is a full-time comprehensive public undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education and administered by the Henan Provincial Government. Located in Pingdingshan, an excellent tourist city in China, the university traces its roots to Pingdingshan Normal School founded in 1959, upgraded to an undergraduate institution in 2004, and merged with Henan Medical and Health School in 2024 to form the Donghu Campus.

As a master's degree-granting unit and a doctoral degree project construction unit in Henan, it is a pilot university for transformation and a model application-oriented technology institution, as well as a member of the CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.

Pingdingshan University excels in applied talent cultivation, emphasizing industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, serving as a benchmark for application-oriented universities in Henan. It offers 58 undergraduate programs across nine disciplines—engineering, management, science, liberal arts, medicine, education, economics, law, and arts—with 12 provincial key disciplines and three professional master's degree authorization points.

Engineering, medicine, and management are particularly strong. As a CDIO member, the university adopts international engineering education standards to enhance students' practical and innovative skills. It leads in transformation among Henan universities, with high graduate employment rates and strong industry recognition.

The university comprises 23 teaching units offering 58 undergraduate programs and three professional master's programs. With over 1,800 faculty members, including a high proportion of senior professors, the university boasts teaching and research equipment valued at 361 million yuan and a library collection of 3.296 million volumes.

It emphasizes innovative curricula, adopting the CDIO engineering education model to promote project-based and interdisciplinary learning. Research is supported by multiple provincial key laboratories and engineering research centers, with hundreds of national and provincial projects undertaken in recent years, yielding significant results in applied technology.

Pingdingshan University has three campuses—Hubin, Chongwen, and Donghu—with a total building area of over 777,000 square meters. The campuses are beautifully landscaped, with Hubin Campus located near Baigui Lake offering scenic views.
