Hunan Institute of Technology

Hunan Institute of Technology (HNIT) is a full-time regular undergraduate university located in Hengyang City, Hunan Province, approved by the Ministry of Education. It focuses on engineering with a coordinated development of multiple disciplines.

HNIT is a university under the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program and a project construction unit for master's degree authorization in Hunan Province. The university traces its roots to the Hengyang Branch of Hunan University (founded in 1975) and Hunan Building Materials College (founded in 1978), which merged and upgraded to form HNIT in 2007.

HNIT has significant advantages in engineering education. It is a member of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program and a council member of the National CDIO Engineering Education Alliance and the East-West University Course Sharing Alliance.

The university offers 40 undergraduate majors, with flagship programs such as Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Design and Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, and Computer Science and Technology, which are recognized as national or provincial characteristic specialties.

HNIT comprises 17 secondary teaching colleges (departments) covering engineering, science, management, humanities, economics, and law. The faculty includes over 1,300 staff, with more than 400 holding senior professional titles and over 1,000 holding doctoral or master's degrees.

The university's teaching and research equipment is valued at 330 million RMB, and the library holds over 1.81 million paper books along with rich electronic resources. HNIT implements the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, emphasizing practical teaching and innovation ability, with several provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers and engineering practice education centers.

HNIT has three campuses, with the main campus located in Zhuhui District, Hengyang City, featuring a green and pleasant environment. The campus is equipped with modern teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, and sports facilities.

Student dormitories are air-conditioned with hot water and internet access, ensuring comfortable living conditions. The canteens offer diverse dining options, including Chinese, Western, and halal food, catering to international students.
