Overview
Lanzhou City University (LCU) is a provincial public university located in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province in Northwest China. It is the only university in the region with a mission to serve urban development. Its roots trace back to Lanzhou Teachers College (founded in 1958) and Baili Petroleum School (founded in 1942 by New Zealander Rewi Alley).
In 2007, Gansu Provincial Preschool Teachers College merged into LCU. As a council member of the Sino-German University of Applied Sciences Alliance and a member of the Belt and Road University Alliance, LCU actively promotes international cooperation with German, New Zealand, and Central and Eastern European institutions.
