ABA TEACHERS COLLEGE

Aba Teachers University is located in Shuimo Ancient Town, Wenchuan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is a provincial full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education.

Its predecessor was Maoxian Simple Rural Normal School founded in 1938, and after several name changes and upgrades, it became a full undergraduate institution in 2015. Following the devastating 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, the university was entirely relocated and rebuilt in the scenic Shuimo Town.

Aba Teachers University's core strengths lie in its deep-rooted tradition of teacher education and unique ethnic cultural resources. It is among the first batch of pilot institutions under the Ministry of Education's Scientific Work Ability Enhancement Plan (Hundreds, Thousands, and Tens of Thousands Project), earning a strong reputation in teacher training, especially for cultivating versatile educators suited for ethnic minority regions.

Located in Aba Prefecture, the university leverages rich ethnic culture research resources, forming distinctive research directions in ethnic education and preservation of Tibetan and Qiang languages and cultures. It has been recognized as a model unit for national unity and progress in Sichuan Province, with a long history of minority preparatory education since 1982, offering pathways for students from various ethnic groups.

The university has 538 full-time faculty members, with over 40% holding senior professional titles, and invites renowned scholars from home and abroad as visiting professors. Teaching and research equipment totals 144 million yuan, and the library holds 1.43 million print books and 440,000 electronic journals, providing rich academic resources.

It offers 28 undergraduate programs across education, literature, science, engineering, management, and arts, with specialties like primary education, preschool education, and Chinese language and literature recognized as provincial-level featured programs.

The campus is nestled in Shuimo Ancient Town, surrounded by mountains and rivers, blending traditional Sichuanese architecture with modern design. Teaching and administrative space covers 160,100 square meters, featuring smart classrooms, micro-teaching labs, and art training centers.

Student dormitories are equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and internet access for convenience. The campus includes an ethnic culture square, library, gymnasium, and standard track field, meeting both academic and recreational needs.
