Changsha Normal University

Changsha Normal University, located in Changsha, Hunan Province, is a full-time undergraduate institution established by the Hunan Provincial Government. Its predecessor was Changsha Normal School founded in 1912 by Xu Teli, a renowned educator and teacher of Mao Zedong.

The university was upgraded to a bachelor's degree-granting institution in 2013. It is selected into the Ministry of Education's Excellent Teacher Training Program and serves as a national animation and game talent training base, as well as one of the first batch of demonstration training bases for the Ministry of Education's National Training Program for Preschool Teachers.

Changsha Normal University's flagship programs include preschool education, primary education, musicology, fine arts, animation, and industrial design (toy design). Preschool education is a traditional strength, with a long history and rich resources, earning the university the reputation of 'cradle of preschool teachers'.

The university is a national animation and game talent training base, and its animation program enjoys high prestige in the industry, with graduates highly sought after by employers. Additionally, it is one of the first batch of demonstration training bases for the Ministry of Education's National Training Program for Preschool Teachers, undertaking national-level training tasks for kindergarten teachers, reflecting its authoritative position in preschool education.

The university comprises 12 secondary colleges offering 30 undergraduate programs across education, arts, engineering, literature, and other disciplines. It has over 1,000 faculty members, including 750 full-time teachers, many of whom have overseas study or visiting scholar experience.

The curriculum emphasizes innovation, implementing the Excellent Teacher Training Program and strengthening practical teaching through numerous off-campus internship bases. In research, the university hosts provincial-level platforms such as the Hunan Children's Physical Fitness Promotion Research Base, and has achieved multiple results in children's education, art design, and toy design in recent years.

The university has two campuses, Xingsha and Ansha, both in Changsha. Xingsha campus is located in the National Economic and Technological Development Zone, surrounded by enterprises and convenient living facilities; Ansha campus features a green and tranquil environment.

The total campus area is 686,600 square meters with a building area of 384,800 square meters, including well-equipped teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, and sports facilities. Student dormitories are comfortable, equipped with air conditioning and hot water.
