Overview
West Yunnan University (WYNU), located in Linxiang District, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, China, sits along the Lancang River near the Myanmar border. It is the only full-time undergraduate university in Lincang, with a history tracing back to the Shunning Prefecture Junior Normal School founded in 1907.
After decades of development, it was upgraded to a university by the Ministry of Education in 2015. As a training base for basic education teachers of ethnic minority languages in Yunnan, the university focuses on serving border ethnic regions.
