Introduction

Located in Ganzhou, GUST is a public applied undergraduate university that integrates industry and education to cultivate competitive engineering and management talents.

Overview

Gannan University of Science and Technology (GUST) is a public undergraduate institution located in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, China. Administered by the Jiangxi Provincial Government and operated by the Ganzhou Municipal Government, GUST was transformed from an independent college into a full public university in December 2020.

Ganzhou, a historic and cultural city in southern Jiangxi, has experienced rapid economic growth, providing rich opportunities for university-industry collaboration. GUST focuses on applied education and offers 35 undergraduate programs across 6 colleges, covering engineering, science, management, arts, and law.

Features & strengths

GUST's core strength lies in its applied orientation and deep integration with local industries. Inheriting the engineering legacy of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (formerly Southern Institute of Metallurgy), the university has distinctive programs in metallurgy, materials, mechanical engineering, and electronic information.

In response to Ganzhou's strategic development of the 'China Rare Earth Valley' and low-altitude economy, GUST co-established the Ganzhou Low-Altitude Economy Modern Industry College with the Nankang District government, becoming a pioneer in this field in Jiangxi.

Teaching & research

GUST employs 450 full-time faculty, with about 40% holding senior titles and over 80% possessing doctoral or master's degrees. The curriculum emphasizes both theory and practice, with each program supported by ample laboratory and training facilities.

The 167 on-campus labs cover everything from basic physics to advanced manufacturing, while 118 off-campus bases provide real-world experience. Research focuses on local industry needs, with platforms like the Low-Altitude Economy Modern Industry College and a Rare Earth New Materials Research Center.

Campus & facilities

The campus features a green and well-planned environment with distinct zones for teaching, living, and sports. Key facilities include modern teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, a gymnasium, and student dormitories.

The library, covering about 20,000 square meters, offers ample reading spaces and 24-hour study areas. Student dormitories are standard four-person rooms equipped with air conditioning, water heaters, and private bathrooms.
