Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology

Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology is located in Benxi New City, Liaoning Province. It is a provincial regular undergraduate university with engineering as its main focus and coordinated development of multiple disciplines.

Its predecessor, Benxi Metallurgy Higher Technical School, was founded in 1948, and it was upgraded to a bachelor's degree-granting institution in 2004, renamed Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology. The campus covers 870,600 square meters with a building area of 427,400 square meters, featuring modern teaching and research facilities.

Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology's flagship programs are in engineering fields such as metallurgy, materials, mechanical, electrical, and computer science. Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering enjoy high reputations in the industry.

The university is among the first batch of national pilot universities for the Ministry of Education's 'Science Capability Enhancement Plan' and the 'Hundred Cities and Thousand Schools' pilot program of the China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance, highlighting its leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship education.

The university comprises 14 teaching units offering 39 undergraduate programs across engineering, science, economics, management, and humanities. Teaching and research equipment assets total 251 million yuan, and the library holds 1,082,700 volumes, providing excellent learning and research conditions.

The faculty consists of 637 full-time teachers, many with overseas study backgrounds or industry experience. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, featuring project-based learning and school-enterprise cooperative courses.
