Pu'er University

Pu'er University is a provincial public undergraduate institution located in Pu'er City, a major hub in southwestern Yunnan, China. Administered by the Yunnan Provincial Government under a province-city joint management system, the university evolved from Simao Teachers College and was officially upgraded to a university in 2012 with approval from the Ministry of Education.

As one of China's first pilot universities for the National Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Education and Training Program, it receives counterpart support from Minzu University of China and Yunnan Minzu University.

Pu'er University's key strengths lie in its unique location and academic focus. As a national pilot for the Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Program, it has deep expertise in agriculture and forestry, particularly in Pu'er tea, coffee, and tropical fruits, offering a complete talent cultivation chain from cultivation to marketing.

Teacher education is another traditional pillar, rooted in its history as a teachers college, supplying many educators to Yunnan's basic education system. Additionally, given Pu'er's multi-ethnic population, ethnic studies and cultural research are distinctive.

Academically, Pu'er University emphasizes applied talent development. It boasts teaching and research equipment valued at 107 million yuan, 105 on-campus labs, and 197 off-campus training bases, providing ample hands-on opportunities.

The library holds 1.141 million paper books, 1.45 million digital resources, and 270,000 e-books. The faculty of 724 includes a growing proportion of senior professors and industry experts as guest lecturers. Curricula blend theory and practice, featuring specialized courses in tea science, coffee science and engineering, and ethnic studies.

The campus is scenic and spacious, covering 2,054 mu with high greenery and a blend of modern and traditional architecture. It features standard athletic fields, a gymnasium, and student activity centers. Dormitories are equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and private bathrooms, ensuring comfort.
