Overview
Located in Haikou, the core city of China's Hainan Free Trade Port, Qiongtai Normal University operates two campuses: Guilingyang and Fucheng, covering a total area of 1,067 mu (about 71 hectares). As a full-time public undergraduate university under the Hainan Provincial Government, it is a key support institution of the Ministry of Education's Collaborative Quality Improvement of Teacher Education program, a National Language and Character Promotion Base, and the primary base for training preschool and primary school teachers in Hainan.
The university traces its origins to two lineages: the Qiongtai Academy founded in 1710 during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, and the Lingao County Rural Normal School established in 1931. These merged in 2004 to form Qiongtai Normal College, which was upgraded to a university in 2016.
