SHANDONG INSTITUTE OF PETROLEUM AND CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY

Located in Dongying City, Shandong Province, at the core of the Yellow River Delta Eco-Economic Zone, Shandong Institute of Petroleum and Chemical Technology is a provincial public undergraduate university transformed in 2021 from a former teachers college affiliated with Shengli Oilfield.

With a history of cooperation with China University of Petroleum (East China), the institute has deep roots in the petrochemical industry. It enrolls students from 28 provinces across China, serving over 11,000 full-time students with a faculty of more than 700.

The institute’s greatest strength lies in its strong petrochemical industry background and industry-education integration. As one of the first batch of Modern Industrial Colleges in Shandong Province, it maintains close ties with Shengli Oilfield and China University of Petroleum, providing students with abundant internship and employment opportunities.

Flagship programs include Oil & Gas Storage and Transportation, Petrochemical Technology, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing, and Control Engineering. Two programs are recognized as provincial first-class majors, and two as provincial characteristic majors.

The institute comprises 8 teaching units offering 39 undergraduate programs across engineering, science, management, literature, and education, with a strong focus on engineering and petrochemicals. The faculty includes professors from prestigious universities and industry experts, with a high proportion of dual-qualified teachers.

The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning through provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers and virtual simulation platforms. Research is supported by 9 provincial platforms such as the Shandong Key Laboratory of Unconventional Oil & Gas Development and the Shandong Oilfield Chemical Engineering Technology Research Center.

The campus features a green, well-planned environment with modern teaching buildings, labs, a library, a gymnasium, and student dormitories. Dorms are equipped with air conditioning, hot water, and private bathrooms for comfortable living.
