Shanxi Institute of Science and Technology

Shanxi Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) is a provincial public undergraduate institution located in Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, approved by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Shanxi. It is jointly supported by Shanxi Province and Jincheng City, positioning itself as a science and engineering-oriented applied university.

The institute traces its roots to the Software College of Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Institute founded in 2002, and was officially transformed into SIST in 2021. The campus covers over 1,200 mu (about 200 acres) with 400,000 square meters of completed buildings and 330,000 square meters under construction.

As the only provincial public undergraduate university in Jincheng, SIST excels in applied science and engineering education. Leveraging local industrial resources, it focuses on majors such as mechanical engineering, materials science, electronic information, computer science, and civil engineering.

Programs like Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, and Computer Science and Technology are recognized as provincial-level specialties. The university has deep partnerships with leading enterprises, establishing joint training bases to ensure graduates are job-ready.

SIST boasts a well-structured faculty of over 600, with more than 30% holding senior academic titles and a growing proportion of 'dual-qualified' teachers combining academic and industry experience. The curriculum follows a 'industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation' model, blending theory with practice.

The university operates several provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers and virtual simulation platforms. Research focuses on smart manufacturing, new materials, and information technology, with multiple university-level institutes and engineering centers undertaking provincial and ministerial projects.

The campus is located in Jincheng city, featuring a pleasant environment with high greenery coverage. Teaching, living, and sports areas are well-organized, with modern buildings including lecture halls, a library, a gymnasium, and student dormitories.
