Taiyuan University, located in the capital city of Shanxi Province, is a full-time public undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education. It is among the first batch of application-oriented universities in Shanxi.
Its history dates back to 1905 with the founding of Shanxi Government Normal School, and it was upgraded to a university in 2013. The university has three campuses covering about 1,681 mu (112 hectares), with over 16,000 students enrolled.
