Xinzhou Teachers University

Xinzhou Normal University, located in Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, is a full-time public undergraduate normal university approved by the Shanxi Provincial Government and a master's degree project construction unit. Its predecessor was Shanxi Xin County Teachers College founded in 1958, and it was upgraded to a bachelor's degree-granting institution in 2000 after merging with other schools.

The campus covers 1,619 mu (about 108 hectares) with 450,000 square meters of buildings, hosting over 19,700 full-time undergraduates. Rooted in teacher education, the university also offers programs in arts, sciences, engineering, management, and law.

Xinzhou Normal University's core strength lies in its deep tradition of teacher education and its status as a National Innovation Experimental Zone for Talent Training Models. It is a key base for training primary and secondary school teachers in Shanxi, with flagship majors like Chinese Language and Literature, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and English enjoying strong reputations and high employment rates.

The university boasts several provincial-level key disciplines and specialty programs, and undertakes numerous national teaching reform projects. Its location near the World Heritage site Mount Wutai offers unique advantages for educational fieldwork and cultural exploration.

The university comprises 26 teaching units offering 43 undergraduate majors across education, literature, science, engineering, management, and law. It has 969 full-time faculty members, over 40% with senior titles and 85% holding doctoral or master's degrees.

The university operates several provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers and research platforms, such as the Shanxi Basic Education Curriculum Reform Research Center. The curriculum integrates theory with practice, employing innovative methods like dual-supervisor system and micro-teaching.
