Introduction

Zhengzhou University of Technology is the only public science and engineering undergraduate university in Zhengzhou, known for applied talent cultivation and leading deaf higher education in China.

Overview

Zhengzhou University of Technology (ZZUT) is a full-time public undergraduate institution located in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. It is the only science and engineering university established by the Zhengzhou Municipal Government.

Founded in 1980 as a branch of Zhengzhou University and Henan Medical College, it went through several name changes—Zhengzhou Commuting University, Zhongzhou University—before being upgraded to a bachelor's degree-granting university in 2016 and renamed Zhengzhou University of Technology.

Features & strengths

ZZUT's core strengths lie in its applied talent cultivation model and its pioneering role in special education. As a national pilot university for training skilled talents in the construction sector, it offers 38 undergraduate programs across engineering, management, arts, and more.

Notably, since 2001, ZZUT has been a leader in deaf higher education in central and western China, establishing the country's first sign language interpreting program and now hosting the largest number of deaf students on campus nationwide.

Teaching & research

ZZUT boasts a highly qualified faculty of 1,341 staff, many with overseas study or industry experience. The university has invested 205 million yuan in teaching equipment and operates 205 laboratories and training rooms, providing ample hands-on learning opportunities.

Its four libraries house 1,650,600 print books and 1,384,600 e-books, with access to over 10 Chinese and international databases including the China Academic Journal Full-text Database. The university has 24 teaching units, and its curriculum emphasizes industry-academia integration and school-enterprise cooperation, fostering students' practical skills and innovation.

Campus & facilities

ZZUT's four campuses—Yingcai, Jinhe, Hanghai, and Longzihu—are all located within Zhengzhou city, offering convenient transportation and a pleasant environment with green spaces and modern facilities. The new Airport Economic Zone campus is under construction to further expand capacity.

Student dormitories are equipped with air conditioning and hot water, and canteens serve a variety of cuisines to suit different tastes. Libraries, sports venues, and student activity centers are readily available, creating a comfortable and convenient living and learning environment for students.
